Mom: Thumbs Up Nicholas: Thumbs Up Julia: Thumbs Up
TITLE: Molly Goes Shopping
AUTHOR: Eva Eriksson
YEAR: 2003
One thing I love about this book is watching kids react to the fact that the story's protagonist, a little piglet named Molly, tells a fib to her grandmother after she botches her first solo shopping trip. Having forgotten what she was supposed to buy, Molly comes home with a bag of potatoes and says the shopkeeper made her buy it. Nicholas, Julia and their cousin, Oliver (6), all seemed to be both tickled and amazed at Molly's willingness to look her grandmother in the eye and tell her a bald-faced lie. But then Grandma rushes out to give the shopkeeper a piece of her mind, and Molly must tell the truth when she returns.
