Mom: Thumbs up Nicholas: Thumbs Up Julia: Thumbs Up
TITLE: Miss Lina's Ballerinas
AUTHOR: Grace Maccarone
YEAR: 2010
There is no shortage of picture books about ballerinas out there (much to Julia's delight), but this is among the better ones. Miss Lina's eight ballerinas usually dance in two lines of four, until a new girl comes along throwing the whole class into disarray. The ballerinas, Christina, Edwina, Sabrina, Justina, Katrina, Bettina, Marina and Nina figure out that they can accommodate the addition of Regina by dancing in three rows of three (and readers learn a little math to boot). Written in catchy rhymes reminiscent of the classic picture book, "Madeline."
